Meet Emily Buckley, one of our newer employees at FIFS. As a member of our Client Service Advisor Team, Emily’s primary responsibility is working with clients who have personal policies such as homeowners and personal auto.
We asked Emily to tell about her experience applying for and starting working at FIFS. Here is her story:
I am always excited to learn, help others, and problem-solve. As someone with a background in music, teaching, religion, and healthcare, I had no experience in the insurance industry. What initially drew me to FIFS is the people. I had heard only good things about working here – the teamwork and sense of community, the opportunity to continue learning, and the work/life balance.
Working here has been one of the best decisions I made. Not only have all my initial thoughts and hopes of community and balance proved true, but I have also made some great friends and blended in well with my coworkers.
As someone who enjoys puzzles and finding solutions, I’ve enjoyed being able to assist and be a part of the conversations surrounding all sorts of insurance-related discussions. I especially enjoy it when my coworkers and higher-ups value what I think, even though I’m new! There are so many applications to what we learn and share in this industry, and I’m happy to be a part of it.
Something I value in life is continual learning and growing. When I started working at FIFS, I had the opportunity to study and learn insurance, which must always adapt to be relevant. While we all have our everyday tasks and goals, there is still a lot of versatility and change to keep things interesting.
Throughout the years, I’d heard of FIFS. I applied online to be a Client Service Advisor in the Personal Lines department, even without any insurance experience. Applying was easy, and I figured, “Why not”? You never know unless you put yourself out there! Despite coming from different backgrounds and having different experiences, ideas, and processes, we find a way to work together in this ever-changing field – that’s what makes this place special.

Meet Gurpreet “Preet” Soor, one of our newer employees at FIFS. As a member of our Policy Services Team, Preet’s responsibilities include preparing renewals, sending client communications, and working with claims.
It was through a social media post that Preet heard FIFS was hiring. A family friend saw the post and encouraged her to apply. As to be expected, she was nervous about her new job. She said she became comfortable at FIFS “…with a blink of an eye because everyone was very welcoming and encouraging”. She likes the family and team environment at FIFS. “Everyone is positive and encouraging during the new employee training; there are always helping hands and words of encouragement at every corner you turn.”
When asked what Preet likes best about working at FIFS, she said she loves “…knowing that I have a voice! Managers and coworkers are open to listening to ideas, working together towards common goals, and there is continuous support to continue growing. I also love the importance placed on health and family. It is comforting to know that if anything happens, my managers are willing to work with me to ensure everything works out.”
Preet says the insurance industry interests her because it “has a plethora of knowledge…it is interesting because it changes based on the state of things…around the world. Continuing education is a wonderful way to keep up with the growth of the industry.”
For Preet, working at FIFS “…is not just a job, it’s a career path!”

Do you have work-from-home positions available?
Not at this time. However, employees may submit a request for a hybrid work schedule after completing a full year of employment.
Do you offer competitive benefits?
How is orientation and training provided?
We’ve made significant improvements to our orientation program. Training is provided through classroom, virtual, job shadowing, one on one mentoring, and hands on experiences. These different approaches are intertwined throughout the orientation and training process to provide the best possible support to the new hire.

We are coffee connoisseurs; we take the quality of our java very seriously. We provide Starbucks and Wawa coffee for employees, and you will get your own FIFS insulated Yeti to keep it hot for hours.
What is a PA Resident Producer Insurance License and do I have to have one to apply at FIFS?
An insurance license is required by each state for anyone who sells and services insurance.
Often at FIFS, we do not require an applicant to be licensed to be considered for an open position. Unlicensed persons hired for a career that requires licensing will be provided educational tools and 90 days to obtain the license. A multiple-choice exam is administered by the state. The state requires an exam score of 70% or higher to be licensed. FIFS provides mentoring and educational tools to help individuals achieve a passing score.
Once the license is obtained, the state requires annual continuing education courses. All licensing and continuing education fees are provided by FIFS.
