Medicare Products FAQs

My address has changed. Who should I contact?

On the back of your ID card is a Customer Service number. Call Customer Service and tell them your new address. FIFS is not authorized to make these types of changes on your behalf.

Do you charge a fee for appointments if I only want to ask questions?

No, we do not charge fees to meet with our Insurance Advisors. We are happy to meet with you to explain the Medicare plan options and help you find the best fit for your specific needs.

When am I eligible to enroll in Medicare and/or a Medicare Supplement plan?

Your birthday MONTH determines when you are elibile , when you can apply and when your guaranteed issue (exemption from underwriting) expires. You can apply for both Medicare and a Medicare Supplement plan prior to your birthday month; you do not need to wait.  Medicare coverage can begin as early as the first day of the month in which you become 65 years old.

Are there requirements for a Medicare Supplement Plan?

Yes. In order to purchase a Medicare Supplement Plan you must first be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.

Do I have to pass underwriting guidelines to get a Medicare Supplement Plan?

You are guaranteed a Medicare Supplement Plan without having to meet underwriting guidelines if you apply for the plan prior to the third month after your birthday month.  This allows you to choose the plan of your choice.  If you wait until after the Initial Enrollment Period to apply for a Medicare Supplement Plan, you will be subject to the medical underwriting guidelines. Depending on your health or medical situation at the time, you may not qualify.
