With the recent purchase of Penn Community Insurance, FIFS has extended our reach of clients deeper into Bucks County. This is also true of the organizations that we support. In fact, FIFS had designated Pennridge FISH, a food pantry and clothing outlet serving those in need in the Pennridge School District, to be the recipient of our 7th Annual FIFS Motorsports Insurance Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show on April 25th.
Once the shelter-in-place order was given, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we decided to postpone the show indefinitely pending approval of large social gatherings in Pennsylvania. We remained optimistic that we would still have the show at some point during the summer months once things began to return to normal. This is always a fun community event, and FIFS looks forward to it each year.
Jim Hunsberger of the East Penn Modifiers Club, the organization that manages the show, says he “…feels a certain obligation to the organizations that they choose as recipients of the show proceeds that are often over $1,000. The organizations have come to depend on us, especially now when the need is greater than ever.” East Penn Modifiers typically hosts about ten shows per year as well as regular Cruise Nights.
As optimistic as we would like to be at this point, we did not see a path to rescheduling the show in the near or distant future. Additionally, we are not comfortable hosting a show and opening our facility to hundreds of attendees, even if it is legally acceptable to do so. FIFS and East Penn Modifiers have made the painful decision to cancel the FIFS show for 2020.
That said, FIFS also recognizes that there is a great need in the communities we serve, and organizations like Pennridge FISH are going to great lengths to fill those needs. We’ve decided to donate $2,500 on behalf of the FIFS staff and the East Penn Modifiers Club to Pennridge FISH to show our appreciation and support for the great work they are doing in the community.
While many of us are sheltering in place, Pennridge FISH is still distributing food, accepting non-perishable items, and accepting financial donations. For more information, please visit www.pennridgefish.org.
