Fifteen local families, Franconia Township Police Officers, and many volunteers were at Harleysville Walmart today for Shop with a Cop, a program of the Franconia Township Police Benevolent Association (FTPBA).
Each family was provided cash to purchase toys, clothing, and household items.
Janelle Godshall and Jim McMichael, both members of the FIFS team volunteered at the event.
They were shopping with Officer Ryan Kochersperger and a family with three young boys.
The bicycle section was the first stop where each of the boys picked out a new bicycle. They also purchased shoes, clothing, toys, and a phone for their mother who was working that day.
Following the shopping, the day concluded at Souderton Pizza Pasta for lunch.
“It was a fun and rewarding experience shopping with the three boys and their grandmother” said Janelle at the end of the day.
The staff of FIFS raised funds in December and gave the money to FTPBA for Shop with a Cop.
